Today’s Google Doodle (June 6) by Olivia When is dedicated to Angelo Moriondo. Whilst his name might not sound familiar…his invention is certainly one e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e knows!
Angelo Moriondo is the inventor of…
- The very first known espresso machine! ☕
- Yes indeed. This italian inventor is considered the godfather of the modern espresso machine!
- Today marks his 171st birthday
- He was born on June 6, 1851 in Turin, Italy into a family of entrepreneurs
- It was in 1884 when he patented the earliest known espress machine, making lives a whole lot easier for coffee fans in Italy
- Prior to his invention, the wait for coffee was longer than even 5 minutes
- What a star! In fact, it was awarded the Bronze Medal at the General Expo of Turin in the same year
- The folowing year, his invention was officially confirmed on October 23 1885 as an international patent
